Egyptian Government Prioritizes Citizens’ Welfare Through Economic Reforms

It has been highlighted by Dr. Ali Abdel Hakim Al-Tahawi, being a political and economic specialist, that diligent efforts are being put forth by the Egyptian government towards the betterment of well-being indicators, led by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He added that especially through a volatile global economic landscape which stresses markets and individuals alike, the government remains steadfast in efforts towards easing financial challenges and helping boost social equity.

Among primary steps enacted was the raising of the minimum wage and salary reviews for all government workers. In addition, predetermined raises were brought in to aid in citizens’ adjustment to inflation and its downfalls. Al-Tahawi stresses the additional layers of response to Egypt’s needs, serving as an economic decision, moral support, and material support all at once. He further highlighted the consistency of the government’s service of citizens first and foremost, in rhetoric and action alike.

Starting in 2014, Egypt has undergone a succession of step-wise progressions on its wage program, the first of which being incremental wage raises launched synchronously with the economic reform program. In the years since, these advocative initiatives have proceeded, reaching eventually periodic adaptation of minimum wage levels.

President El-Sisi additionally coordinated action to broaden the list of beneficiaries of cash transfer projects like Takaful and Karama, widen the range of comprehensive health insurance, raise subsidization of foods like bread, and grant exceptional sums to particularly needy groups. Also having been launched as well are grand initiatives not unlike “Decent Life”, intended to revamp rural areas and instilling vital infrastructure and amenities to more than 60 million citizens.

Al-Tahawi describes that these developments demonstrate a novel state ideology within Egypt that exceeds crisis management to reach solutions that are tangible, long-term, and fair. Raising salaries is not simply a ploy to add cash to the economy but instead conveying to residents that their government is providing them active aid and their leaders are aware of their plights and working to relieve them.
